Scholarship Program

In an effort to strengthen the pipeline of minority prosecutors across the nation, the NBPA Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, has established a scholarship for African American law students who meet academic criteria, along with a demonstrated desire to serve the community.

The NBPA Foundation also funds a fellowship for African American law school interns at prosecutors’ offices across the country. In recognizing the financial hardships that prevent some students from securing unpaid internships, the NBPA Fellowship allows students to explore a career in prosecution.

Sterling Johnson Jr., Scholarship

We are excited to announce a new scholarship in addition to the NBPA scholarship, for students in NY! The Sterling Johnson Jr., Scholarship for Criminal Justice has been created to continue the legacy of the namesake of the Sterling Johnson New York Chapter of the National Black Prosecutors Association, The Honorable Judge Sterling Johnson Jr., of the Eastern District of New York. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who demonstrates an interest in prosecution. This can be demonstrated by a past or current internship in the New York Downstate area at any prosecutor’s office, relevant volunteer or course work, or attending a New York area law school. Please indicate in your materials if you would like to be considered if you meet the criteria. Huge thank you to the Sterling Johnson New York Chapter of the National Black Prosecutors Association for their hard work in creating this opportunity.
