Greetings, NBPA Family!

Stepping into this role as your National President fills me with gratitude, humility, and a deep sense of purpose. Throughout my past eight years of service to NBPA, this organization has shaped me, poured into me, and connected me with a family I didn't know I needed. To now serve in this capacity is an honor I approach with intention and a clear vision for the future.

I want to begin by thanking our Immediate Past President, Simone N. Hylton, for her strategic leadership of our 2023–2025 board. Her dedication, steady hands, and unwavering commitment strengthened our foundation and moved our organization forward in powerful ways. Because of her guidance and definitive execution, NBPA is positioned to grow, innovate, and serve at an even higher level.

My journey within NBPA has shown me the transformative power of community and the profound value of this space where Black prosecutors are supported, celebrated, and equipped to lead at every stage of their careers. Whether you are a law student, a new ADA or AUSA, a seasoned trial lawyer, a supervisor, or an elected official, you are a vital part of our mission and our future.

As we enter the 2025–2027 term, our focus is clear. We will honor the progress made under the current Strategic Plan while boldly advancing the work necessary to strengthen our organization for generations to come. This vision will be carried out through three pillars:

REVITALIZE
We will revitalize our core infrastructure by strengthening the systems and processes that ensure NBPA’s work continues with consistency and purpose. By formalizing our programming frameworks and committee workflows, building replicable and scalable partnership models, and preserving historical moments while archiving institutional knowledge, we will build a more sustainable NBPA that protects our progress and supports future leaders.

EXPAND
We will expand the value of NBPA membership by creating more meaningful opportunities for engagement, leadership, and professional growth. This includes strengthening programs that nurture our members at every level and increasing access to practical resources that support their development – ensuring that every prosecutor in our family has a place to learn, lead, and thrive.

ELEVATE
We will elevate the voice and impact of Black prosecutors by increasing our visibility and deepening the partnerships that amplify our work. By speaking clearly on critical issues affecting our communities and producing content that showcases the extensive experience and diverse expertise of our membership, we will strengthen NBPA’s presence and drive the initiatives shaping the future of prosecution.

This next chapter is ours to shape, and it will flourish only through our shared commitment. I encourage each of you to bring your gifts, leadership, and ideas to the table. Serve on a committee. Lead a program. Mentor a student. Your participation is what keeps our organization thriving.

Together, we will build upon our proud legacy while shaping the future of prosecution – one marked by excellence, equity, innovation, and service.

Yours in Service and Purpose,

Kristina Mills
